Reviews: Sofka: The princess that became a comunist

Paddy Glynn
Paddy spent her early years in Tinahely, Co.
Wicklow, moving to England to train as a
dancer. She began her career at the London
Palladium, then after stints in Las Vegas
and Disneyland decided “enough with the
feathers and sequins!” and turned to acting, travelling
and working in London, Paris, America and New Zealand.
Early this year, Paddy was Irish as Mrs. O'Connor in
Holby City and French as Queen Margaret in Richard III.
Now Russian! Before Sofka, her one-woman appearances
were as Emma, Lady Hamilton and Mary Kingdom Brunel,
but this is a first with cooking.

Russian Princess, wife, mother, inmate, friend, secretary for Laurence Olivier and eventually a Communist, Sofka’s journey through life was both fascinating and highly eventful. The Calder Bookshop welcomes you to an evening of theatre, storytelling and beetroot soup. Bon Appetite!
